Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly stepped up his bid to sign Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic by offering to exchange defender Matteo Darmian.
Since moving to Old Trafford, reports have emerged that Matic is one of Mourinho's top targets after working with the Serbian international at Stamford Bridge, and according to The Sunday People, he is prepared to allow one of his players to link up with the Blues.
With Italian coach Antonio Conte moving to West London after Euro 2016, Mourinho is hoping that he is willing to add Darmian - a player who he started in Italy's win over Belgium on Monday night - to his squad rather than keeping hold of Matic, who endured a mixed campaign last season.
The report comes after it was suggested that Mourinho was keen to boost his backline with the signing of Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, while also keeping hold of Phil Jones.
