Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for RB Leipzig striker and rumoured Liverpool target Timo Werner after data analytics highlighted his qualities.

Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, who has been heavily linked with bitter rivals Liverpool.

The Red Devils are known to be in the market for a new striker when the window reopens, having eventually settled on a loan deal for Odion Ighalo in their pursuit of one in January.

Ighalo's future beyond the end of his loan stay remains uncertain and, while a permanent deal for the Nigeria international remains an option, United are considering alternative signings too.

The Manchester Evening News claims that the club are using extensive data analysis to determine their main targets, and that RB Leipzig's Werner is one of the players to have emerged.

The 24-year-old is widely expected to leave Leipzig this summer after scoring 27 goals and assisting 12 more in 2019-20 so far, with Liverpool leading the race for his signature.

Werner has a £52m release clause in his contract, which makes him a significantly cheaper option than Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane, who could command a fee of up to £200m.

In addition to a new striker, United also want a new winger and midfielder this summer, with Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish their top targets in those positions.
