A hat-trick from Bafetimbi Gomis helps Lyon to a comfortable 4-1 victory away to Marseille in Ligue 1.

Olympique Lyonnais have run out 4-1 winners against Marseille at Stade Velodrome on Wednesday evening.

A hat-trick from Bafetimbi Gomis and a Steed Malbranque strike were enough to secure the points for the visitors.

Loic Remy grabbed a consolation for the home side with 12 minutes remaining but it is his fellow French international teammate, Gomis who will grab the headlines.

The striker converted a penalty after three minutes before curling a left-footed strike past goalkeeper Steve Mandanda 10 minutes before half time.

Former Sunderland and Fulham midfielder Malbranque made it 3-0 shortly after the break before Gomis delivered a low drive into the bottom corner on 72 minutes.

Remy got his name on the scoresheet six minutes later.
