Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race to sign Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson when the transfer window reopens.
The 25-year-old is understood to have attracted interest from the Premier League as a result of his performances this season, with Everton and Aston Villa also linked.
French outlet L'Equipe reports that Newcastle have now enquired about Sanson too as Steve Bruce looks to bolster his midfield options having missed out on Boubakary Soumane in January.
However, the France Under-21 international's asking price could prove to be a sticking point, with Marseille reportedly holding out for a £30m bid.
Sanson has also previously been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City and West Ham United, although Marseille are thought to be more open to letting him leave now than they were in previous transfer windows.
The central midfielder, who has two years remaining on his contract with Marseille, has scored five goals and assisted the same number in 30 games across all competitions this season.
