Newcastle United are reportedly keen to make goalkeeper Martin Dubravka's loan deal at St James' Park permanent.

Newcastle United are reportedly keen to make goalkeeper Martin Dubravka's loan deal at St James' Park permanent.

Dubravka, who signed for the Magpies on deadline day from Sparta Prague, impressed on his debut in the club's 1-0 win over Manchester United last weekend.

According to The Mirror, Newcastle are prepared to pay up to £5.2m to keep the stopper in the North-East on a longer-term stay.

The Slovakian's current deal will rise to £1.2m once Dubravka plays six of Newcastle's remaining 11 Premier League ties, but the newspaper adds club officials will not hesitate to pay extra for the player if Newcastle can avoid relegation.

Newcastle also have England Under-20 goalkeeper Freddy Woodman in their ranks, although the youngster is currently gaining experience on loan at Aberdeen.
