Paris Saint-Germain right-back Gregory van der Wiel has insisted that he made the correct decision when he turned down a move to Newcastle United in favour of a switch to the French capital.
The 25-year-old Netherlands international, who joined PSG when he left Ajax in September 2012, had been a long-term target for the Magpies.
"I love it in Paris," said Van der Wiel. "I had the chance to go to Newcastle, but I didn't want to live in a place like that. I prefer Paris - everything is trendy and alive."
Van der Wiel scored his first goal for PSG as the Ligue 1 leaders won 4-0 at Toulouse last month.
