Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Valencia

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest list of injuries and suspensions ahead of Wednesday's Supercopa de Espana semi-final against Valencia.

Real Madrid travel to Saudi Arabia this week to meet Valencia for a Supercopa de Espana semi-final clash in Jeddah on Wednesday night.

Following a nightmare 2018-19 campaign, Los Blancos appear to be on steadier footing under Zinedine Zidane this term, sitting in second place and level on points with leaders Barcelona in La Liga.

Madrid enter uncharted territory for this game, taking part in the first Supercopa that includes four teams as opposed to just two at the start of August.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the club's latest injuries and suspensions ahead of this fixture.

James Rodriguez

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 8 (vs. Valencia)

The Colombian has been out of action since November due to a knee injury and has since returned to training, but it seems unlikely that Zidane will risk him in this game.

Eden Hazard

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: January 18 (vs. Sevilla)

Initially not thought to be serious, Hazard's ankle problem, sustained against Paris Saint-Germain, has kept him out for over a month and Zidane has confirmed that, despite returning to training, the Belgian would not feature in Jeddah on Wednesday.

Lucas Vazquez

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Toe
Possible return date: January 8 (vs. Valencia)

Vazquez has an outside chance of returning to the bench for this game after recovering from a broken toe, but Zidane will potentially be reluctant to risk the Spaniard on Wednesday.

Marcelo

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: January 8 (vs. Valencia)

Injured since the start of last month, Marcelo is another player who has returned to training and could make an appearance off the bench against Valencia, although Zidane is likely to be careful over the veteran.

Marco Asensio

Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Having ruptured knee ligaments over pre-season, the talented youngster remains some way off returning to action, with optimistic predictions stating that he could come back by the end of March.

Madrid have no players suspended for this game.
