Real Madrid's Xabi Alonso to return against Sevilla

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso will make his return from injury in Wednesday's La Liga clash with Sevilla.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Xabi Alonso will make his return from injury in the La Liga clash with Sevilla on Wednesday evening.

The 31-year-old, who returned to contact training last week, has not played for the Spanish outfit this season after undergoing groin surgery in the summer.

Ancelotti told reporters at a press conference: "I will try and give Xabi Alonso some minutes tomorrow."

Alonso, who joined Madrid from Liverpool in 2009, has made just short of 200 appearances for the Spanish club.
