Jose Mourinho tells his side that they need to repect APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League quarter-final.

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has warned his side that they need to respect APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League quarter-final.

The Cypriot club have exceeded all expectations in Europe this year, beating Lyon on penalties to make it to the latter stages.

However, despite the side's humble background, Mourinho wants his players to treat them with the utmost respect in their two-legged tie.

"APOEL are in the quarter-finals because they have earned it," said the former Inter Milan manager.

"They perhaps have a less prestigious profile than other teams but they're having a great Champions League and need to be respected."

Real Madrid are one of the favourites to lift the Champions League trophy after beating CSKA Moscow 5-3 in the last 16.
