Report: Porto want Asier Illarramendi

A report claims that Porto boss Julen Lopetegui wants to sign Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi this summer.

New Porto boss Julen Lopetegui has reportedly targeted Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi as his first major signing this summer.

Illarramendi only moved to Madrid from Real Sociedad at the start of the season, but has struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot under Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Lopetegui, who took charge of Porto last week, is believed to have a strong relationship with Illarramendi from his time as head coach of Spain Under-21s.

According to A Bola, Lopetegui is keen to use his former position in order to secure the signing of the 24-year-old at the end of the season.

The same report claims that contact will be made in the next few days.
