How Spain could line up against Wales

Sports Mole looks at how Spain could line up for their international friendly against Wales in Cardiff.

Spain will warm up for their UEFA Nations League clash with England by taking on Wales in an international friendly at the Principality Stadium on Thursday.

La Roja have won their opening two games under new boss Luis Enrique, including a 6-0 drubbing of World Cup runners-up Croatia last month.

Spain will be bidding to continue that positive reaction to their disappointing World Cup - and the retirements which followed it - when they travel to Cardiff.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how they could line up against Ryan Giggs's side.

Possible SPA XI vs. WAL

It is a relatively new-look Spain squad now, but some stalwarts such as Sergio Ramos and Sergio Busquets still remain and both should start on Thursday.

Enrique may use the friendly as an opportunity to get a look at other more inexperienced players on the international scene, though, with Jose Gaya and Suso both hopeful of earning just their second caps.

Wolverhampton Wanderers full-back Jonny Castro is a potential debutant, alongside goalkeeper Pau Lopez, but neither are expected to start in the upcoming double-header.

Chelsea's Alvaro Morata could lead the line after his recent resurgence with two goals in his last two games, and with no Isco in the squad Marco Asensio looks to be a likely starter in that front three too, having scored one and assisted four more in the rout of Croatia.

Dani Carvajal's absence is expected to open the door for Cesar Azpilicueta to start at right-back, alongside the Madrid duo of Nacho and Ramos.
