Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Scott Parker has revealed his desire to be part of the England squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
An Achilles injury meant that the 32-year-old had been unavailable to manager Roy Hodgson since the conclusion of England's campaign at Euro 2012 last summer.
However, having made 13 successive starts for Spurs, Parker was called up to the squad for the upcoming qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro.
Now that he is back among his international teammates, Parker has conceded that he is eager to travel to South America next year, providing that the Three Lions qualify.
"Now I am amongst it again, the fire rumbles in my belly to get there for Brazil," said Parker. "I have not had many massive injuries in my career but the ones you do have give you that hunger again.
"I need to take things one step at a time but, now I am in the squad, if I get my chance I need to take it."
Parker made his England debut in 2003 and has gone on to make 17 appearances for his country.
