A penalty from Paul McGowan nine minutes from time secured a 1-1 draw for St Mirren against 10-man Celtic in Paisley in the Scottish Premier League this afternoon.
Champions elect Celtic broke the deadlock with just six minutes on the clock. The hosts failed to clear a corner and the ball eventually broke for Kris Commons, who headed into the net from 10 yards out.

The hosts had the ball in the net themselves with 27 minutes played, but Gary Teale's effort from wide was chalked off because goalkeeper Fraser Forster was adjudged to have been fouled by Paul Dummett.
The game then swung in St Mirren's favour 10 minutes into the second half when Victor Wanyama was handed a straight red card for a foul on McGowan.
They eventually made the most of their numerical advantage in the closing stages when McGowan converted from the spot after Esmael Goncalves had been fouled by Emilio Izaguirre.
