Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has admitted that he is keen to build on his recent call-up to the England squad.
An injury to Tom Heaton resulted in Pickford being promoted to the senior setup by interim boss Gareth Southgate and he remained an unused member of the group as Joe Hart kept a clean sheet during the goalless draw in Slovenia.
However, Pickford has acknowledged that he would like to follow in the footsteps of Hart, who has established himself as the nation's number one since making his debut in 2008.
The 22-year-old told Sky Sports News: "Gareth Southgate [interim England manager] called me up and I had a couple of days' experience.
"When I was younger, Joe Hart was crossing every bridge and I've got to look at what he was doing when he was at Shrewsbury. That's the path I want to try and take."
Pickford has made 11 appearances for Sunderland in all competitions this season.
