Swansea City captain Ashley Williams has claimed that the club's new signings have provided much-needed competition within the squad.
Wilfried Bony, Jose Canas, Jordi Amat, Alejandro Pozuelo and Jonjo Shelvey have all arrived at the Liberty Stadium this summer as the Welsh side prepares for a third season in the Premier League.
"It's just what we needed," Williams is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "I think we've got two players for every position when everyone is fit, and that is the competition you need.
"We have that strength now that means when you do want to make a change or you have to change it because of injury, the side does not get weakened."
Williams was recently appointed Swansea skipper after Garry Monk stepped down from the role.
