Shanghai Shenhua have denied reports that they are interested in former Real Madrid playmaker Guti.
Guti, who was released from his contract with Besiktas earlier this season, said last month that he planned to continue his career in Asia after suggesting that he had several "possibilities" to join teams in China's Super League.
"There are many possibilities [for me] to go to China," he told Punto Pelota.
However, while nothing has materialised since, the midfielder's opportunities appear to have taken a further blow after big spenders Shenhua ruled themselves out of a move.
Boss Jean Tigana, who signed Nicolas Anelka from Chelsea earlier this season, suggested that the Spaniard was too old.
