West Ham boss Sam Allardyce reveals that he wants to make sure that the club is safe from relegation before he signs a new contract at Upton Park.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that he is in no rush to sign a new deal at the club.

Allardyce's current two-year contract expires at the end of the season, but he is happy to wait until the Hammers have secured their Premier League status for another year before he starts discussing terms with the owners.

"We will wait until we are safe and then see," the 58-year-old told The People.

"It's up to David Gold and David Sullivan - it's their call. If and when they want to talk I will be ready to discuss a contract, but there's a long way to go yet because we want to be safe first.

"I've been in management 20 years and now my security is my CV. My security is not looking for a big payoff - it's knowing I have made a good impression on all the clubs I have been at."

Allardyce got West Ham promoted to the Premier League last season and a solid start to the campaign has seen them move up to eighth place in the table.
