West Ham United joint-chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold have expressed their excitement ahead of the new Premier League season after it was announced that the team will face Tottenham Hotspur on the opening weekend.
Sam Allardyce's men will face Spurs at Upton Park, as well as Liverpool and Manchester United in the first six games on their fixture list for the 2014-15 campaign.
"It is a tremendously exciting start to the new season, with three of the first five home games against top-six sides from last season," Sullivan told the club's official website.
"Although they will obviously not be easy, it probably isn't a bad time to be playing them as some of their players might still have a World Cup hangover. Our squad should be refreshed and recharged after a thorough pre-season so I'm optimistic we can get off to a good start."
Gold added: "Tottenham at home is an amazing first fixture. It'll be a full house at the Boleyn Ground and I couldn't think of a better way to kick-off the new season than playing Spurs at home."
The Hammers finished 13th in the table last season.
