Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford reveals that he is "ready for a new challenge and the next steps" after being left out of the squad for Sunday's Manchester derby.

Marcus Rashford has revealed that he is "ready for a new challenge and the next steps", with the forward seemingly confirming that he will be leaving Manchester United in the near future.

There is currently a host of speculation surrounding the attacker's future, with Man United said to be willing to let him leave for as little as £40m during the January transfer window.

Rashford has again found it difficult to show his best form this season despite a respectable tally of seven goals in 24 appearances, and he was left out of the Red Devils squad for Sunday's Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.

The 27-year-old could be involved against Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup on Thursday night, but the Man United academy product has suggested that his time at Old Trafford is coming to an end.

"For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps," he told journalist Henry Winter. "When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person.

Rashford suggests he will soon leave Man United

"If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me."

Rashford admitted that it was "disheartening" to be left out of the squad against Manchester City last time out, but he took to social media shortly after the full-time whistle to congratulate his teammates on the 2-1 victory.

"It's disheartening to be left out of a derby but it's happened, we won the game so let's move on.It's disappointing but I'm also someone as I've got older I can deal with setbacks. What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it. Or do my best the next time I'm available," he continued.

"I'm halfway through my career. I don't expect my peak to be now. I've had nine years so far in the Premier League and that's taught me a lot, that's helped me grow as a player and as a person.

"So I don't have any regrets from the last nine years. I won't have any regrets going forward because I take things day by day and sometimes bad things happen, sometimes good things happen. I just try and keep a fine balance.

"[The World Cup] still excites me. It's playing for your country in the biggest competition in the world. I've had the chance to do it before (Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022) and it's an unbelievable experience. If I got the opportunity again, I'll try and grab it with both hands."

Where next for Rashford?

Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with Rashford, but it is incredibly difficult to imagine Man United selling him to another English club.

Paris Saint-Germain are long-term admirers of the attacker, and the French giants are regarded as the favourites, with Rashford believed to be open to discussing a switch to Paris at the start of 2025.

There have also been suggestions of strong interest from Saudi Arabia, with Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal all believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation.

Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus are also viewed as possible destinations, but as it stands, PSG are at the head of the queue, with Luis Enrique's side very much in the market for a left-sided attacker following the departure of Kylian Mbappe over the summer.

Rashford has scored 138 goals and registered 64 assists in 426 appearances for Man United, with his best campaign at Old Trafford coming in 2022-23, when he scored 30 goals and registered nine assists in 56 outings in all competitions.
