Deadline day key events
Liverpool given hope in keeping Real Madrid-linked Alexander Arnold
Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed that he is "excited" for the future at Liverpool despite reports linking him with a transfer to Real Madrid.
The Merseyside-born right-back has been at his boyhood club Liverpool since the age of six and has made a total of 315 first-team appearances across all competitions since and including his debut in 2016.
Alexander-Arnold is widely regarded as one of the best right-backs - particularly from a creative perspective - in Europe, chipping in with 19 goals and 82 assists for Liverpool, and was a key cog in the Reds machine during the Jurgen Klopp era.
The 25-year-old has won eight trophies at Liverpool, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and two EFL Cups, and he is hoping to lift more silverware with the club this season under new head coach Arne Slot.
Done deal: Ex-Man United forward Martial joins new club
AEK Athens have secured the signature of former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.
The Frenchman left Old Trafford at the end of June, having not been offered a new deal, meaning that he had been available on a free transfer this summer.
A number of clubs have been credited with an interest in the experienced attacker, but it has now been confirmed that Greek outfit AEK Athens have secured his signature.
The Yellow and Blacks announced Martial's arrival on social media, while Man United also released a statement wishing the 28-year-old luck in the next stage of his career.
Real Madrid 'seriously exploring' move for Chelsea defender
Real Madrid are reportedly still contemplating whether to make an approach for Chelsea defender Reece James.
Ever since being promoted into the Blues first-team squad by Frank Lampard in 2019-20, James has been regarded as one of the most promising right-backs in world football.
In 158 appearances for Chelsea, the academy graduate has contributed 11 goals and 22 assists, James also making 10 outings during the club's Champions League triumph in 2020-21.
However, persistent injuries - largely to his hamstring - have prevented the 24-year-old from becoming a mainstay in the starting lineup under several different head coaches.
Change of opinion? Chelsea 'performed U-turn' on future of attacker
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca and club officials have allegedly been left impressed by the development of Noni Madueke.
Since arriving from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, the winger has spent periods in and out of the starting lineup under different head coaches.
Although he established himself as a key player during the back end of Mauricio Pochettino's reign, there was uncertainty as to whether that would remain the case under Maresca.
With the summer transfer window having now closed, it has since become apparent that the Italian has a preference for possessing a wide array of options in wide areas.
'Desperate' Chelsea attacker seeking January exit amid Ligue 1 interest
Under-performing Chelsea winger Mykhaylo Mudryk is reportedly at risk of being axed by the Blues in the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old had heavily teased a move to Arsenal in January 2023 amid the Gunners' firm interest in him, but the North London giants ultimately refused to bow to Shakhtar Donetsk's price demands.
Arsenal's hesitation allowed Chelsea to hijack their rivals' move, as the Blues agreed to pay as much as £88.5m to bring Mudryk to Stamford Bridge, forking out an initial £58.9m.
The Ukraine international has failed to adapt to life in the Premier League since leaving his homeland, though, only recording seven goals and five assists in 62 appearances for the West London side.
Reds regrets: Liverpool target 'makes plea' to club after rejecting summer move
Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is allegedly regretting his decision to snub a summer transfer to Liverpool amid his side's poor start to the season.
Despite also being courted by the likes of Barcelona and Arsenal, the 25-year-old appeared to be on the verge of moving to Arne Slot's side in a €60m (£50.5m) summer switch.
Real Sociedad would have been powerless to prevent their academy graduate from moving on thanks to the release clause in his contract, but Zubimendi ultimately decided that he could not leave his boyhood team behind.
Since snubbing the Reds to continue in the Basque Country, Zubimendi has experienced a difficult start to 2024-25 with Real Sociedad, who have won just one of their first six games of the La Liga season.
