Leeds Rhinos have announced that forward Jamie Jones-Buchanan will be out of action for between six and nine months.
The 34-year-old requires surgery after rupturing his quad tendon during the team's Challenge Cup semi-final win over Warrington Wolves on Friday.
"This is desperately disappointing news for Jamie and everyone is fully behind him after this setback," head coach Brian McDermott told the club's official website.
"He is in the best possible hands with our medical team and I have no doubt, given the obstacles he has already overcome in his career, he will come more determined than ever to perform to his best for the team next season."
England international Jones-Buchanan is due to undergo surgery on Wednesday.
