Tom Briscoe scores five as Leeds Rhinos smash Hull KR in Challenge Cup final

Tom Briscoe scores five tries to help Leeds Rhinos beat Hull Kingston Rovers 50-0 in the Challenge Cup final.

Tom Briscoe scored a record five tries as Leeds Rhinos put Hull Kingston Rovers to the sword to win 50-0 and lift the Challenge Cup at Wembley this afternoon.

Brett Delaney dived on the ball over the try-line after Jamie Peacock had been ripped in the tackle to give Rhinos an early try. Kevin Sinfield converted before some clever passing saw Danny Maguire carve through the Hull defence to score.

Moments later, Rhinos caught the ball from the kickoff and raced downfield to score straightaway again, Tom Briscoe going over this time. Sinfield added the first conversion but hit the post with the second.

Briscoe got his second of the game after the break with a superb solo effort, running in from 90 yards after claiming the ball in the air.

Sinfield nailed the conversion from out wide, before Brad Singleton crashed over from short range to grab another for Leeds. Sinfield again added the extra two before Briscoe went over in the corner for his hat-trick, Sinfield this time missing the conversion.

Hull KR then completely capitulated. Briscoe grabbed another before Rob Burrows went over, and Briscoe broke a Challenge Cup record to skip through some poor defence for his fifth try.
