Ekaterina Makarova hails "perfect" performance

Ekaterina Makarova expresses delight at the level of her performance during her straight-sets win over world number five Angelique Kerber in round four of the Australian Open.

Ekaterina Makarova has described her performance during her straight-sets win over world number five Angelique Kerber as almost "perfect".

The 24-year-old hit 32 winners and produced 29 unforced errors as she prevailed 7-5 6-4 in 92 minutes to reach the quarter-finals of the Australian Open on Sunday.

"I'm really happy that I beat Kerber today because I lost three times last year against her," said Makarova.

"So, yeah, I'm really glad about my match. It was, I think, perfect. Not all the match perfect, but most of the match."

Makarova will face Maria Sharapova in the last eight at Melbourne Park.
