Novak Djokovic congratulates new world number one Andy Murray

Novak Djokovic congratulates Andy Murray after the Scot ended his 28-month reign as world number one.

Novak Djokovic has congratulated Andy Murray after the Scot dethroned him as the number one tennis player in the world.

Murray's triumph at the Paris Masters saw him end Djokovic's 28-month reign at the top of the rankings heading into the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals in London later this month.

Djokovic described it as a "deserved" achievement for Murray, who has won his second Wimbledon title and successfully defended his Olympic crown during a memorable 2016.

Djokovic will go into the ATP World Tour Finals looking to win the tournament for a fifth year in a row.
