Naomi Broady bows out of Wimbledon

Naomi Broady fails to follow her brother into the second round at Wimbledon following a 7-6 6-3 defeat to Mariana Duque-Marino of Colombia.

Great Britain's Naomi Broady failed to join her brother Liam in round two of Wimbledon after losing in straight sets to Mariana Duque-Marino tonight.

Liam Broady made headlines earlier on day one of the competition by coming from behind to beat Marinko Matosevic.

However, his sister was less fortunate as the 25-year-old lost to the Colombian 7-6(5) 6-3 to become a first-round casualty on her fourth trip to SW19.

Broady - who has never progressed beyond the second round - and Duque-Marino both held serve for the entirety of the first set as the pair forced a tie-break at six games apiece.

The duo broke one another in the opening two games, before the South American pulled off another to clinch a 7-5 tie-break win.

Two more broken service games in the second set helped Duque-Marino into a 5-3 lead, before serving out the match to book her place in the next round.
