Dr Kofi Amoah: 'Africa Cup of Nations could be a sham'

Kofi Amoah, the man who organised the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana, believes that next year's edition could risk becoming "a disgrace to African football".

The man who organised the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana has claimed that it will be almost impossible for the continent's football federation to stage next year's event on time.

The Confederation of African Football confirmed on Tuesday that Morocco will not host the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations as previously planned, following fears over the spread of Ebola.

Dr Kofi Amoah told BBC Sport: "It could be a sham. I don't think there is enough time for anyone to do it. It could become a disgrace to African football.

"60 to 70 days will not be adequate for most countries. There is a lot of stuff [to do]. Accreditation systems, security, which is very important. Without that it'll be a mess."

Angola, who hosted the 2010 edition, ruled themselves out as replacements on Wednesday.
