Theo Walcott has said that he is not banking on a place in the England squad for next year's European Championship after he was left out of England's 2010 World Cup squad.
As he fights to become a permanent fixture in Fabio Capello's plans, Walcott said that being on form for his club is the key to selection.
"You've got to play well for your club and the manager will pick players on form, so I'm not going to look too far ahead after what happened to me a couple of years ago," Walcott said.
"He plays players in form and you always get a chance to play and show what you can do and hopefully we can take that into the tournament when it comes to it.
"Firstly I'm going to be concentrating on Arsenal after the poor start we've had."
The striker was the subject of worldwide attention when he was selected for England's 2006 World Cup squad at the age of 17.
