Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere reveals positive injury news

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere reveals that he will not be forced to spend a period on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that he expects to be able to return to training "in a couple of days".

On Wednesday night, Wilshere started the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final with Chelsea but hobbled off with an ankle injury early in the second half.

The 25-year-old has endured frequent fitness issues during his time at the Emirates Stadium, but the England international has suggested that he does not expect to spend a period on the sidelines.

Wilshere has just six months remaining on his contract at the North London outfit, but the playmaker was handed the captaincy for the game at Stamford Bridge by manager Arsene Wenger.

After the weekend's trip to Bournemouth, Arsenal do not return to action until their clash with Crystal Palace on January 20.
