Arsenal reportedly emerge as surprise contenders to sign West Ham United winger Felipe Anderson this summer.

Arsenal are reportedly considering a surprise move for West Ham United winger Felipe Anderson this summer.

The Hammers are understood to be open to selling the 27-year-old in order to raise funds after he fell out of favour with David Moyes in the second half of last season.

Just one of Anderson's 20 Premier League starts came after February 24, with Moyes preferring the likes of January arrival Jarrod Bowen in wide areas.

Football Insider claims that Arsenal could offer an unlikely route out of the London Stadium, though, with manager Mikel Arteta reportedly a big fan of the Brazilian.

Arteta has allegedly earmarked Anderson as one of his top targets to bolster his attacking options this summer, although West Ham's asking price could prove to be a sticking point in negotiations.

The Hammers want to recoup as much of the then club-record £36m they paid to sign him from Lazio in 2018, and hope to use that cash to strengthen other areas of the team.

Anderson still has two years remaining on his contract at the London Stadium, with West Ham able to trigger the option of a further year on top of that.
