Arsenal are reportedly among the clubs in the running to sign defender Toby Alderweireld from bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs were forced to trigger a 12-month extension in the centre-back's contract at the end of last year after reaching a stalemate in talks.
Alderweireld will remain under contract with Spurs until the summer of 2020, at which point he will become a free agent, but he is believed to have a £25m release clause in his deal.
That cut-price sum has tempted a number of sides to prepare offers for the Belgium international and, according to The Sun, Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in signing him.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been tipped to make a move for Alderweireld at various points over the last 12 months, but Tottenham could yet reach an agreement with the ex-Atletico Madrid ace over fresh terms before the transfer window opens.
Since joining Spurs from Southampton in 2015, Alderweireld has gone on to make more than 150 appearances for the club.
