Manchester United have reportedly decided that they are willing to activate the release clause of Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld.
United have been linked with a number of centre-backs ahead of the summer transfer window, and the North-West giants hold a long-standing interest in Alderweireld.
The Belgium international still has 15 months remaining on his contract, but the 30-year-old can be signed for £25m ahead of next season.
According to The Sun, United are happy to pay that fee in order to strengthen their backline ahead of launching a Premier League title assault.
The report adds that United are yet to make any contract with Spurs, but it appears that discussions will be held at the end of the campaign.
Alderweireld has made a total of 36 appearances in England's top flight and the Champions League this season.
