Arsenal to appoint Marc Overmars as technical director?

Ajax transfer chief Marc Overmars is reportedly being eyed up for a return to Arsenal, 19 years after leaving the club.

Arsenal are targeting former player Marc Overmars to become their new technical director, according to a report.

The 45-year-old is currently employed in an identical position for Dutch giants Ajax, where he has spent the past seven years.

According to The Mirror, Overmars has been eyed up by Arsenal chiefs to take over from Sven Mislintat and solve the club's recruitment problems.

Mislintat has been unable to form a working relationship with Unai Emery and is believed to be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium, with Borussia Dortmund interested in recruiting the transfer guru.

Overmars, responsible for the development of the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt and Justin Kluivert in recent years, represented Arsenal between 1997 and 2000.
