Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta rules out the possibility of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaving the club this summer.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has ruled out the possibility of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaving the club this summer.

The Gabon international penned a new deal at the Emirates Stadium until 2023 last summer, but he struggled to show his best form in the 2020-21 season.

Aubameyang was heavily linked with a move away before committing his future to Arsenal, and transfer rumours have resurfaced once more, but Arteta is not worried about his skipper's future.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference ahead of Saturday's clash with Manchester City, Arteta said: "Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is our player and he will remain here."

Aubameyang took home the match ball after scoring a hat-trick in Wednesday's 6-0 win over West Bromwich Albion in the EFL Cup, during which Bukayo Saka, Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette also opened their accounts for the season.

The Gunners will now aim to recover from opening Premier League defeats to Brentford and Chelsea when they face Man City on Saturday lunchtime.
