Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes that Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin would be "a great signing" for the Gunners.
The 25-year-old has been a key contributor to Southampton's strong season thus far, with his performances drawing a host of admiring glances.
Parlour has picked the Frenchman as the ideal signing for the London side, but has admitted that it will be difficult to prise him away from the Saints.
"Schneiderlin would be a great signing. He's a proven player in the Premier League but I don't think Arsenal will get him as Southampton are in a great position in the league," Parlour told Sky Sports News.
"They need a centre-half as well. That and a central midfielder would be the two main targets for Arsene Wenger."
Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be interested in Schneiderlin.
