Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly hopeful of signing Shanghai Shenhua forward Didier Drogba.
The 34-year-old moved to China on a free transfer in June following the expiration of his Chelsea contract.
However, his future in the Far East is currently in doubt, amid rumours of a fall-out between members of the club's board.
Despite signing Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, Wenger is said to be on the lookout for a proven goalscorer to replace Robin van Persie, who joined rivals Manchester United last month.
According to The Sun, the Gunners have made an official enquiry to Shenhua about the possibility of bringing Drogba back to England.
Drogba scored 100 Premier League goals in 226 appearances during eight seasons at Stamford Bridge.
