Jores Okore backs Ron Vlaar to carry World Cup form into Premier League

Aston Villa defender Jores Okore reveals his admiration for team captain Ron Vlaar and backs him to carry his international form into the new Premier League season.

Aston Villa defender Jores Okore has revealed his admiration for team captain Ron Vlaar ahead of the new Premier League season.

Okore is on the way back from a cruciate knee ligament injury and is determined to forge a partnership with the Dutchman at the heart of Villa's defence.

The 21-year-old Denmark international told the club's official website: "Ron really showed his true potential at the World Cup. I had hoped he would get to the final, but he was unlucky. Throughout the whole tournament though, he showed what he can do.

"I was proud of him, but I wasn't surprised he played that well. When you have a lot of confidence and play with your heart, anything is possible. Ron really showed his true potential at the World Cup.

"I am looking forward to him being back. He will come back with plenty of confidence and belief and that will rub off on the whole squad.I know he can carry it on. I am looking forward to him being back and playing with him will be amazing."

Villa get their Premier League season underway with a trip to Stoke City on August 16.
