Aston Villa make Alessandro Diamanti bid?

Aston Villa make a bid for Guangzhou Evergrande and Italy midfielder Alessandro Diamanti, according to a report.

Aston Villa have reportedly made a bid for Italy international Alessandro Diamanti.

The 32-year-old currently plays for Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, having joined them from Bologna last year.

However, it has been suggested that he wants a move back to Europe. He spent five months on loan at Fiorentina last season, scoring two goals in 11 Serie A appearances.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Villa are in talks with Diamanti, although Watford and Bologna are also interested.

Diamanti has previous experience of Premier League football, having played for West Ham United in the 2009-10 season.

The playmaker has won 17 caps for Italy, scoring once.
