Atletico Madrid have reportedly won the race to sign Porto midfielder Hector Herrera.
The Mexico international is currently in his sixth campaign at the Portuguese giants, but the 28-year-old's contract is due to expire in the summer.
Reports have suggested that Herrera is ready for a new challenge, and the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan and Roma have all being linked with the player.
However, according to O Jogo, Herrera has decided to move to Atletico in order to work under manager Diego Simeone.
Linking up with the Argentine has allegedly played a significant part in the proposed transfer, while Atletico are said to be prepared to hand Herrera a five-year contract.
The report adds that negotiations are expected to be concluded in the coming months.
