Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique is reportedly not planning to retire next summer despite the recent speculation surrounding his future.
The 34-year-old has again been an important player for his Catalan club during the 2021-22 campaign, making 19 appearances in all competitions, contributing two assists in the process.
Pique has struggled to show his best form for Xavi's side this term, though, and there have been claims that he could retire next summer despite penning a new contract until June 2024.
According to Sport, the defender's representatives have insisted that he has no plans to hang up his boots at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
Pique has featured in all but two of Barcelona's La Liga matches this season, missing out against Getafe in August and Celta Vigo in November due to injury.
However, the experienced defender will be absent for Saturday's clash with Elche due to the booking that he picked up in the 2-2 draw with Osasuna last weekend.
