Barcelona captain Carles Puyol could be sidelined for up to six weeks with suspected knee ligament damage he suffered against Getafe on Saturday.

Barcelona could be without captain Carles Puyol for up to six weeks after the defender picked up a knee injury on Saturday.

The 34-year-old limped off during the second half of the Blaugrana's 4-1 away win against Getafe in La Liga with suspected knee ligament damage.

Puyol apparently twisted his left knee in the 52nd minute of play and was substituted five minutes later, and will undergo further medical examination on Sunday to have his situation evaluated.

Barcelona reportedly expect the veteran centre-back to remain on the sidelines for four to six weeks.
