Barcelona have held positive talks with 17-year-old midfielder Gavi over a potential contract extension, according to a report.
The youngster has shot into the limelight following his breakthrough season at the Catalan side this year, in which he has made 30 La Liga appearances so far, scoring two goals and registering five assists in the league.
Having made his international debut with Spain back in October, and following his impressive form for Barca, the club have been eager to extend Gavi's contract on improved terms, with the midfielder entering the final 12 months of his contract this summer.
Following months of prolonged negotiations, Marca are reporting that further talks were held between the player's agent and the club on Friday.
According to the report from the Spanish media outlet, those talks were positive and leave the two parties close to an agreement, although the player's agent is still not satisfied with the financial package being offered to his client.
Barca are still struggling to offer significant wages as a result of their financial struggles over the last 12 months, with the report suggesting that they are making it clear how Gavi will earn higher wages in the future once their circumstances improve.
However, it concludes with how both sides wish for the midfielder to continue his career at the Camp Nou, having made 45 appearances in total for club and country this season.
