Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique has expressed his desire to see teammate Dani Alves sign a new contract with the club.
The full-back's current deal at Camp Nou is due to expire at the end of the season, with reports having suggested that he is likely to leave on a free transfer.
However, Pique is keen for one of the "best right-backs in the history" of Barca to extend his stay in Catalonia.
"I am not the person to talk about Alves and his contract. I don't decide these things," he told reporters.
"But over the last few weeks, as a teammate, he has shown that he's one of the best, if not the best, right-backs in the history of the club. He's still performing very well [and] I'd like him to stay for years."
Alves has been linked with both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks.
