Arjen Robben hits out at "nonsense" claims he criticised Carlo Ancelotti

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben hits out at "nonsense" claims that he criticised the training methods of Carlo Ancelotti following the Italian's sacking.

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has hit out at claims that he criticised the training methods of Carlo Ancelotti following the Italian's sacking last week.

Ancelotti was dismissed by the German champions following their 3-0 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last week, having also made a stuttering start to the defence of their Bundesliga title.

Reports in Germany have since claimed that members of the Bayern squad were unhappy with a number of Ancelotti's methods, although Robben has denied the quotes attributed to him.

"All of a sudden there are things appearing in the media that I would like to distance myself from - these so-called quotes are nonsense," the Netherlands international told NUsport.

"I hate it when things like this happen. I am the last person out there who would have a go at a coach, a fellow player or anyone else. You have to be a man when someone leaves and don't hit out at anyone."

Former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is the latest name to be linked with the vacant post at the Allianz Arena.
