Neil Lennon wants 'fitter, stronger' Bolton Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon admits that his team is lacking physicality following their 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon has challenged his players to become 'stronger and fitter' following their defeat to Bournemouth.

The Trotters were beaten 3-0 at Dean Court on Monday night, extending their unbeaten run to four matches in the Championship.

Lennon admits that his side were second best against the Cherries and concedes that they need to improve physically if they want to compete at the top of the division.

"I looked round the team at Bournemouth and some of them looked lightweight, they were heavy-legged; this shouldn't be the case," he told The Bolton News. "Physically we didn't look as strong as Bournemouth and that needs to change. That's what we'll endeavour to do.

"I'm not looking to fill the team up with heavyweights but we do need some pace and power in the team and that's been the case for a while. We need to get stronger, we need to get fitter, we need to be more robust."

Bolton play their final game of the season on Saturday when they host Birmingham City.
