Emile Heskey has revealed that he is close to agreeing a new contract with Bolton Wanderers.
The former England international arrived at the Macron Stadium last December, when he agreed to terms that will expire at the end of the season.
There had been suggestions that the 37-year-old would be on the move, but he has now confirmed that talks are nearing a positive conclusion.
"I'm close to signing a new contract at Bolton for next season. We'll be sitting down very soon and discussing it further," he told talkSPORT.
"The manager has said he wants me to stay, and I'd love to stay here. The fans have been great and the players are exceptional."
Heskey has scored one goal during his 17 appearances for the Trotters.
