Chris Hughton praises Brighton & Hove Albion spirit following comeback

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton praises the fighting spirit of his players after they came from two goals down to beat Charlton Athletic 3-2 at the Amex Stadium.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has praised the spirit of his players following their victory over Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

The Seagulls, who were two goals down at half time, rallied in the second period to score three times as they took all three points.

Questioned on what he did to rouse his players at the interval, Hughton told reporters: "(I told the players) we can't afford to get caught like we did in the first half on their counter and don't try to win the game in the first five minutes of the second half. Mostly though, it was about showing character.

"They've showed it in abundance all season but you are going to have to show some character and how badly you don't want to lose this game.It was about getting into them and making sure they showed enough character. At half time we certainly would have settled for 2-2.

"They didn't, they wanted to settle for 3-2, so they certainly showed character and a big win because we've got a very tough period of games coming up now."

Hughton's side extended their unbeaten start to the season to 19 games with the victory, which also returned them to top spot in the league table.
