Neil Lennon: 'Georgios Samaras may leave Celtic'

Celtic manager Neil Lennon admits that striker Georgios Samaras could be leaving the club this summer.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has admitted that striker Georgios Samaras could be leaving the club this summer.

The Greece international scored after just five minutes in today's Scottish Premiership clash at Dundee United.

Samaras's deal is up at the end of the season, with the Hoops manager fearing that the forward is heading for the exit door after six-and-a-half years with the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Lennon said: "It's still open to debate at the minute. There is no forward movement on whether he stays or goes.

"From my point of view I would like to keep him as he brings something different to the team, but Sami will have his own perspective on that.

"There may be a bit of movement yet but at the moment it looks like he won't be here next season, but while he is I think he owes it to the supporters to show he is still a quality player."

Lennon has previously admitted that he would like to go to the World Cup in Brazil this summer to spot unknown quantities that could become transfer targets to make up for any outgoing players.
