Olivier Giroud eager to win first FA Cup with Chelsea

Olivier Giroud is targeting a fourth FA Cup victory, and his first with Chelsea, after helping his new club beat Southampton 2-0 to book a place in the final.

Olivier Giroud has set his sights on a first FA Cup victory with Chelsea after helping his side overcome Southampton to book a place in the final.

The Frenchman scored a spectacular opener early in the second half of Sunday's semi-final at Wembley Stadium, weaving past four Saints players and slotting home from Eden Hazard's pass.

Alvaro Morata added a second to secure a 2-0 win for Chelsea, ensuring that Antonio Conte's charges would go through to face Manchester United on May 19.

Giroud, who has won three FA Cups with previous club Arsenal, gave his thoughts on the game at full time, insisting that his goal was no fluke, and looked ahead to the final in four weeks' time.

"We played a good first half but couldn't finish the job and put it in the back of the net," Giroud told BBC Sport. "The boss told us 'keep going, play your game and it's going to happen'.

"Eden gave me a good ball so I wanted to try something, I could see the defenders, it was lucky but yes, it's what I wanted to do.

"I said to the boys I really want to win another FA Cup with Chelsea, that's the target. We want to win this trophy, it's a special competition and for me as well. We will look forward for this amazing final."

Giroud has had a hand in 22 goals in his 26 FA Cup appearances, more than any other player since his debut in the competition in January 2013.
