The best chance of the early exchanges fell to Chelsea when Eden Hazard's corner was headed goalwards by Fernando Torres and Leon Britton cleared off the line.
Swansea failed to test Petr Cech in the Chelsea goal, with Ki Sung-Yeung seeing a good chance blocked on its way to goal.
Chelsea continued to knock on the door but the playmaking trio of Oscar, Hazard and Victor Moses failed to penetrate the Swans' backline.
