Asmir Begovic: 'I will develop at Chelsea'

Asmir Begovic says that he will still improve at Chelsea despite not being guaranteed first-team football.

Asmir Begovic has said that he will still develop at Chelsea despite not being guaranteed first-team football.

The goalkeeper, who signed from Stoke City on Monday, looks likely to be second choice to Thibaut Courtois.

"After speaking at length to the manager, I feel like I can develop here and be an important part of this team," Begovic told The Mirror.

"He explained what he expects, what the club expects and told me what it means to be part of Chelsea football club. I was very much attracted to the whole challenge, for me that was the biggest thing.

"He didn't make any guarantees; it's just about coming in here and working hard. I need to earn my place and show my qualities. I'm confident I can make an impact."

Begovic made 160 appearances in five seasons for Stoke.
